Dragatomi and Friends’ Custom Toys at Comic-Con 2012

Ray and Joanne of Dragatomi are two of my favorite toy people in all the land. They always pack a whole lot of toy art into a small space without things looking like a swap meet. Dragatomi’s booth was THE place for custom toys at Comic-Con, with cases full of customs by Dril One, Leecifer, Jay222, Jason Limon and many others.

For a two-hour block of time on Friday, Monster Worship and Johnny Ryan took over the booth. The duo brought with them their new Herpes Rottweiler vinyl toy (in a surprise unpainted white DIY edition as well). For the record, I don’t think that Herpes Rottweiler is a particularly “anti-semetic toy” (although Chad’s choice of clothing at above left isn’t helping anything). I just like sparking conversation.

Bigfoot reprised his Captain Caveman look for a signing of his new vinyl Fujisan figures. Dragatomi showed the Fujisan prototype at Comic-Con last year (Scroll to the end of this post to see the prototype, and then scroll to the end of this post to see Dragatomi’s new Philip Lumbang prototype.) Fujisan then appeared as 20 hand-painted resin sculptures for Bigfoot’s solo show last year. And here he is in vinyl glory. Mountain Spirit Fujisan is available through Dragatomi online here.

Check out a sampling of Dragatomi’s art, toys, artists and fans throughout the convention. If you like something you see in these pictures, check availability online here.

Shiny, happy people!
