Takashi Murakami Sculpture: 10-foot Girl

Takashi Murakami Sculpture: 10-foot Girl

Takashi Murakami has revealed a new sculpture for his upcoming show at London’s Gagosian Gallery. At 3 meters / 300 cm / 9.8 feet, this busty lady towers over Colin Christian’s 6-foot Cosmonaughties! Here’s what Murakami has to say about the piece:

I think the japanese male sexual complex originated in the two-dimensional world – animation, games and so on – which then transferred to small three-dimensional sculptures. But before my sculptures miss ko (1997) and my lonesome cowboy (1998),
it had never been represented life-size.

If this is “life-size,” consider me dead. The show opens June 28th and runs through August 5th. Click through for a NSFW look at Murakami’s previous sculptures: Miss Ko, Lonesome Cowboy and Hiropon. In 2008, Lonesome Cowboy sold for $15 million at Sothebys. I wonder how much a 10-foot girl costs…?
