Liu Bolin x JR Collaborate in NYC
|Liu Bolin and JR, two amazing artists whose work involves portraiture, photography, issues of visibility and street installation, teamed up for a collaborative mural at the corner of Elizabeth & Spring Streets in New York City. Martha Cooper writes:
Liu Bolin aka The Invisible Man usually has himself painted head to toe to blend in with his surroundings. Today, however, Bolin directed his assistants to paint JR into a background of a wheat pasted photo. The photo was one JR had taken earlier of Bolin. The disappearing act took place in full view of hundreds of fans, photographers and passersby amidst the sunny, springlike streets of Soho.

Have you seen the drank driving campaign that ripped his concept? It’s ultra creepy because it basically has a bunch of cops all hidden in the backgrounds waiting for some drunk guys to get in a car so they can pull them over. I found it pretty ironic considering some of the messages this guy conveys in his art.
