New Shades of Grey Toys: Tattoos and Pierced
|There’s so much talk about Fifty Shades of Grey, I figured I’d capitalize on current events with a dual-duty post on two sexy monotone toy releases this week. One’s a shady character covered in tattoos, and the other is a couple intertwined in the intimate and ecstatic process of piercing. For all the E L James fans, these toys are S&M meets PVC!
First is the 2nd edition “shades of grey” colorway of Dutch artist, Parra‘s Pierced figure, produced by Kidrobot. Straight up real talk: I thought Parra’s original colorway for Pierced was one of the best toy art releases of 2012. And now it’s got competition for the next Designer Toy Awards. Save for the extreme patriots among us, the 10-inch Pierced in contrasting shades of grey (matte and glossy) is super sexy from 360 degrees. Produced as a limited edition of 750 pieces with Parra’s signature engraved on the bottom, Pierced: Shades of Grey becomes available for $150 on Thursday, January 31st at Kidrobot and select retailers worldwide. I recommend ordering Pierced from Dragatomi for super-fast shipping and mom-and-pop-shop support!
Next, Toy Art Gallery returns with a black and white edition of Karakasa, Tattoo Man. The SecretBase umbrella spirit looks perfectly foreboding in shades of grey. Check out the fully painted version for comparison here.
The Karakasa Black and White edition features detailed tattoo line work in black sprays on white vinyl. It becomes available for $100 on Wednesday January 30th at 12PM PST from Toy Art Gallery.
Karakasa and Pierced toys in shades of grey look great together!
