Hooray! Jonathan Edward‘s long-awaited Inspector Cumulus figure is finally available for pre-order through Crazy Label. Having Cumulus in my collection will allow me to indulge my Anglophilia even more. (The Inspector can also start a fedora club with Sergey Safonov’s Godot.)

People often ask me how long it takes to make a vinyl toy. Well, in the case of this Inspector Cumulus toy, it’s been about 4 years. Jonathan debuted Cumulus in 2007 here, and you can look back through his process via posts tagged “Cumulus” here. Being the curious sort of bloke (see what just happened there) that I am, I did a little Googling on this “Barrington Chendy” chap (can’t stop now), and found a cheeky (sorry) bio of the author here. In 2009, ex-British fellow doodler, Jon Burgerman, called it “great stuff!” Folks in the twitterverse should consider adding Jonathan E as @jontofski: He often links to other cool art you might like to know about.

For a limited time (through April 15th), you can pre-order the 8-inch vinyl Inspector Cumulus through Crazy Label here for a discounted price of $29.95. International shipping will bring the price to just above $40, but for this collector, it’s a must have piece. I don’t understand why more toy bloggers don’t get excited and tell you what they’re currently collecting, so in that spirit, check me out.
