Judgement Day

I’m honored to have been invited to be a judge for two upcoming toy art events.

Toy Art Gallery in Los Angeles is sponsoring an open call Resin Toy Juried Show. To qualify, applicants must submit original work created/sculpted out of resin (no platforms or customs). Each person may submit up to three pieces. The deadline to get your work to TAG is June 3rd, so make an inquiry to info [at] toyartgallery [dot] com with the subject line “Open Call Resin Toy Juried Show Submission”. Judging with me on the panel are John “Spanky” Stokes (spankystokes.com), Ayleen & George Gaspar (toybreak.com) and Julie B. (prettyinplastic.com). Although they said I could do my judging virtually, I’m going to try to make it down to LA so I can see the work in person. I’ve been a big fan and supporter of original resin toy art, so I’m looking forward to this. Be sure to come out on June 10th and throw stones at me or get stoned with me or, you know, whatever’s appropriate.

Clutter Magazine is presenting the first annual International Designer Toy Awards in San Diego during Comic-Con 2011. I’ll be on the jury with other industry professionals. Here’s how they describe it:

The Designer Toy Awards celebrates the creativity, innovation and artistic excellence in the Art Toy market, which after more than a decade has not only become a prominent and legitimate form of artistic and commercial expression, it is one of the leaders in global trendsetting. This award ceremony will celebrate the best of the industry’s artists, designers, customizers and manufacturers, as well as honoring those involved in championing Art Toys throughout the world.

You can nominate artists and companies in 22 categories by registering here: http://www.designertoyawards.com. The winners will be announced live at the Munky King Comic-Con Party at Bar Basic in San Diego on Thursday, July 21st beginning at 9PM. See you there!
