Faux Taxidermy by Lana Crooks

Lana Crooks was one of the first artists using plush who really made me see the medium as sculptures rather than toys. The self-proclaimed Plushinator has given form to the softer side of Rocketworld, Andrew Bell and Tara McPherson, among others, but it’s her solo Crooked Art that got me to take a hard look at soft art.

I really dig her “Faux Taxidermy” series, some of which is shown here. On that note, Lana recently moved studios, and she’s priced several of her plushes to sell in her etsy shop. I highly recommend checking it out. And to Lana: Congratulations on your wedding. I hope to meet Mr. Plushinator sometime soon!
