First Porcelain Toy Art From Sergey Safonov
|
I’ve been covering porcelain toy art [tagged] for a while, and I even recently wrote a feature on customized FabergĂ© eggs. (Basically, I’m fancy, is what I’m saying.) Now my friend, Moscow-based artist, Sergey Safonov, has released his first porcelain figure. It’s Bayloom, the egg-shaped, fan-favorite from his Flirps character mini-series!
Sergey writes: “Bayloom is a little dweller from the Gooma universe.” In addition to the original resin character, he has now been produced as a glossy all-white porcelain figurine measuring 3 inches (8 cm.) tall. There are less than 50 porcelain Baylooms available. The limited edition piece is available through Sergey’s online shop for the affordable price of only $25 here!
I’m happy to have received an advance Bayloom, and you can see him here reunited with his resin doppelganger and Godot family friends. Bayloom and 6 other Flirps made their debut at this past DesignerCon in Pasadena. Sergey is now at work on Flirps series 2, as well as a new Moon Wanderer character. He promises future porcelain, and, spoiler alert: there may even be a functional object!
Click through to see Russian porcelain and French porcelain together. (Instagram filtering makes Bayloom look off-white, but both Bayloom and Frank Kozik’s Potamus, are pure as the driven snow white.) Porcelain Bayloom is available while supplies last here.
