Patient No.6’s Project Red & White is Funded & Ready for Sale
|You might remember that in April, Kiev, Ukraine-based toy artist, Patient No. 6, launched an indiegogo campaign to fund his Project Red & White toy series…and he reached double his goal! Consider this one a triple triumph:
- Logistically, it’s another successful application of crowdfunding for toy art.
- Conceptually, it’s a score for the creative people who resist the homogenization and lobotomization of the Institution.
- Aesthetically, it gave Patient No. 6 the funds he needed to produce his most ambitious psychiatric art series to date.
Patient No. 6 writes that he has completed production on the series, and the initial shipment of toys are on their way to the indiegogo backers.
The six 5-inch resin figures are now available to everyone else individually for $56 each (including shipping) or in a Big Pack of 6 for $286 (including shipping) through the Patient No. 6 online shop.
- Skull of Patient No.6
- Gagarin in Rocket
- Patient No.6 in car
- Doctor
- Patient No.6 rabbit mask
- Patient No.6 after lobotomy
Each figure comes with a sticker and medical history bearing your name.
It was fun to watch the indiegogo fundraiser unfold. The project surpassed its goal with only 6 backers. When the project closed, it had reached 12 backers who bought a combined total of 37 figures. I’m impressed with the idea that an artist with a unique idea, passion and drive all the way in the Ukraine can realize 200% of his goal by getting the word out to just 12 people. It’s very inspiring if you think about it.
These figures are each made with multi-part molds and then hand-painted. There is a limited number of pieces available beyond the indiegogo backers, so check the supply here. Congratulations to Patient No. 6! Click through for lots more photos from Project Red & White.
