Resin Toys Against Creative Oppression by Patient No. 6

Written on by jeremy

Ukranian toy designer, Patient No. 6, has launched a small fundraiser on Indiegogo for Project “White and Red,” his new series of six 5-inch toys. The figures continue the story he has been telling through the psychiatric art universe of Patient No. 6. I’ve been following the story since its inception, and I find the concept of institutional oppression of creativity more relevant than ever. If you’re reading this blog, chances are, you do too.

Indiegogo is similar to Kickstarter, except it’s not “all or nothing funding”. This means that if Patient No. 6 doesn’t reach his full goal of $600, he can still apply our contributions to the making of the series. Think of it like a pre-order system: You are essentially pre-ordering a figure. I pre-ordered two.

  5. Patient No.6 with Rabbit Mask
  6. Patient No.6 after lobotomy

ADDENDUM!

Today is April 16th. Patient No. 6 launched this fundraiser on April 1st. I pledged my support right away, but when I published this post on April 11th, I was still the sole funder. As of today, there are 6 of us, and the project has met (and slightly surpassed) it’s fundraising goal! You can still pre-order a figure from this very interesting series through May 8th. Congrats to Patient No. 6.

Customized toys are really cool. It unleash the creativity and imagination of a person. Kids should also try to do their own toy to practice their imagination and perseverance.
