Alana's Story

The Next Great ArtistTM is making resin! Kymia Nawabi received the honor of winning season 2 of reality TV show, Work of Art. She also won the fourth episode’s challenge, “Back to School”. Writes Nawabi:

I was paired up with a brilliant girl named Alana, who brought in a drawing of a carrot on the beach. In this challenge I had to make an artwork related to Alana’s piece, so once I had her speak with me about her drawing, it came out that this is the carrot that killed a young girl after she ate EVERYTHING! The drawing I made, Alana’s Story, won this challenge and for the win Simon de Pury will be auctioning off my work for the proceeds to go to Studio In A School!

de Pury sold Alana’s Story for $4k, and Nawabi is revisiting the work with an edition of resin figurines (with casting help from The Sucklord). Alana’s Girl is essentially a severed head confronting a carrot. It measures 2.5″ x 1.5″ x 3.5″ and comes in a box filled with soil. Nawabi finished each of the 50 pieces with acrylic paint, and they’re still available. Get “ahead” here for $85.
