Remember Who You Are Chase Sculpture

Remember Who You Are Chase Sculpture by Charlie Becker

I love this sculpture by Charlie Becker based on the artwork of Los Angeles-by-way-of-Belgium graff artist/designer Chase.

As a public service Chase paints free murals around the world depicting young children with the text next to them saying: ‘Remember Who You Are.’

What a great message. It’s a topic I’ve been thinking about while curating, Earth Movement, a kid-parent collaborative art show. Hang onto who you are. (And not in an “I’m still Jenny from the block” kinda way either.)

Three versions of the Remember Who You Are Chase sculpture were produced in 2010 for the artist’s show at LA Contemporary gallery: one cold-cast in bronze, one in nickel and one in fluorescent pink resin. Each piece was 10 inches tall.

I’m assuming the sculptures are long gone, but you can find $30 T-shirts and $60 prints featuring the same imagery and message in Chase’s shop.
