The Snatchel Project: Send a Conservative Congressman His Own Uterus

It fills me with joy when artists turn their creative energies toward political change. Earlier this month, we saw Clutter point their busts in disgust toward conservative politicians’ assault on women’s rights. Now, a new group of crafty chicks has taken up the cause with the Snatchel Project.

The Snatchel Project has a clear and commendable mission statement:

We are women, we are strong, we are smart.  And we have a sense of humor. We do not need government interference with our doctors or our healthcare. We do not need misogynistic pundits calling us sluts and prostitutes. We are half of the population and we will not be treated as children or a disenfranchised minority…Tell your male government representatives: “Hands off my uterus! Here’s one of your own!”

To achieve the goal of disseminating the uteri, Snatchel is getting all etsy.

Their website provides a basic “how to” knit and crochet as well as patterns for crafting the lady parts. They’ve also responsibly created a Reading Room stocked with articles on legislation affecting women’s health and set up a Google doc to track the ‘VJJs’ after they’ve been deployed. You go grrrls!
