In general, I am of the mindset that watching TMZ is almost as bad as bath salts when it comes to voluntarily vanquishing one’s brain cells. However, every once in a while, their vastly annoying paparazzi stalkers capture some comedy gold.
Thanks to a tweet from @garybaseman, I found the LA Weekly’s coverage of yesterday’s Hollywood Blvd. SpongeBob Smackdown. Somewhere, John Waters is thinking of making this into a full-length feature and mourning the loss of Divine…
The LA Weekly isn’t so generous to SpongeBob’s attackers, who get referred to as “two slovenly pink-haired Boulevardgoers”. I guess if I were the dude in the SpongeBob costume, I’d be glad that Pinky #1 was wearing what appear to be animal-print leggings rather than, I dunno, spiked bondage pants or something.
You get the impression that SpongeBob was acting pervy to the Pinkies, and (see previous post re: guilty laughter) the moment when Pinky #1 puts down her pocketbook, I fully admit to a rush of adrenaline like “shit is about to get real.” But who goes and kicks a sea sponge in the crotch? It just seems kind of ridiculous, but oh right, this is LA.
