Home Sweet Home by Studio Guilherme Torres
|When you look at these photos of PIL House in São Paulo, Brazil, do you suddenly wish that rather than looking at toy porn on my site, you were browsing an actual apartment listing on Airbnb? (If so, me too, so no offense taken.)
PIL House is a dream of a home for toy collectors and design lovers. Beyond the ventriloquist dummy and real live cat (above), I spied a sweet mix of both vintage and designer and eastern and western toys. I love looking at nicely displayed collections. (For instance here and here.) A quick sampling from São Paulo: Howdy Doody, Frank the Bunny (Donnie Darko), Dr. Hoffman (Qee), Dave Cooper’s Pip and Norton (Critterbox), Camille Rose Garcia’s Sadie and Katie…!
In addition to vinyl toys, the home owner has a healthy amount of vinyl records. I want to look through them. PIL House’s interiors were designed by Studio Guilherme Torres with so many playful details. Their site is full of great, inspiring stuff. If I owned a home, I’d hire them. Since I don’t, maybe someday, one of their clients will invite me over for a visit.
Check out another house they did with cool exposed electrical wiring and more toys here. Click through to view the kaiju cabinet on the way to the kitchen, and don’t forget to stop by the “kid’s room”.
