|The 2012 Richmond Virginia Street Art Festival wound down today after more than a dozen national street artists turned the James River Power Plant Building and Floodwall into a streetside art gallery. Participating artists [above] included: Ed Trask, Brad Bacon, Chris Milk, Dalek, El Kamino, Hamilton Glass, Heide Trepanier, Hense, Jiha Moon, Jeff Soto, Mark Jenkins, Mike Broth, Nic Kuszyk, Pose, Susan Whittier, Richard Colman, Ryan McGinness, Tim Conlon and Vizie. A good crowd of fans and Instagram users came out for the event, allowing me to follow the progress of Jeff Soto and Dalek online over the weekend. You can parse the latest developments and view the work of the other talent artists through the web-based #rvastreetart and #rvastreetartfestival hashtags.
Beyond the inimitable Mark Jenkins‘ amazing Human Dartboard (above), this post will focus on Jeff Soto’s wise owl and Dalek’s collaborations with Pose and VIZIE, which, (spoiler alert) resurrect his Space Monkeys! I’ve missed you, Space Monkeys!
Remember Jeff Soto’s fantastic French cat mural? Click through for his gigantic owl (dedicated to his grandfather, who recently passed away).
Kind of related and random at the same time– has Dalek ever painted a Dalek?
