If Buffy the Vampire Slayer Was a Folk Band
Remember the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? If you started there, but reimagined Buffy Summers and the Sunnydale Scooby gang as a 1960s folk band instead, you might end up with Southern California illustrator Joey Spiotto‘s album covers. Spiotto took on the Joss Whedon oeuvre with folksy album cover illustrations inspired by Buffy, Dr. Horrible, Firefly and even Caprica. Clearly, the artist is a fan of the TV shows. I like the 4th track on Side B of “Chosen”: “Dingoes Ate My Baby” is a shout-out to Seth Green’s character’s band on Buffy.
The 12.5″ x 12.5″ illustrations are printed on 13″ x 19″ on watercolor paper, which makes them a good fit for standard record album frames. Front covers are available for $20 with front and back covers at $35 in his etsy shop. Firefly fans can even purchase the art as full-fledged fake vinyl LP packages here. [Hey! Start a fake vinyl collection, and grab these Fugue State records from Abe Lincoln Jr. too.] Fun!
