Today, Camille Rose Garcia releases new art dolls on her PITCO (Prosthetic Industries Toy Company) imprint. Quoth Camille:
These puffy hoots have been flapping around in my mind belfry for some time now, and I thought it was time to bring them out of the dusty mental recesses and into the world of real things.
All the Hoots were made by Garcia, friends and family at her “Lilliputian doll factory” in the USA, “because I am a bit of a control freak and also I am very into supporting local, independent businesses and paying a living wage.”
The design is printed on cotton poplin fabric with a wool felt backing. They’re stuffed with kapok fiber/hemp/wool blend with a lavender and cedar aromatic insert. The Hoots are available in 3 sizes (Jumbo, Classic and Wee for $80, $45 and $25 respectively).
So why did she create over 100 handmade Hoots? “Mostly because they are so cute, but mainly because I am insane.” Well said. Each Hoot comes with a sequin bow and a story book.
