Neil Gaiman Amanda Palmer Crotcheted Blanket
|If you don’t know Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer, I can’t really help you understand this one. If you fully grasp the respective roles they play in literature and music (and as a complete pop culture / art unit), and you find them infinitely more fascinating than “Brangelina,” please continue reading.
Joan of Dark, rollerderby girl and author of books like Knits for Nerds and Knockdown Knits, decided to crotchet a photo of Gaiman and Palmer into a Neil Gaiman Amanda Palmer blanket. The project took about 2 weeks and 35,000 stitches. That’s a lot of time, but she only got a little, heh, crotchety: “Pulling all the ends through isn’t exactly fun… I cursed Neil and his wild hair quite a few times, as it involved lots of one stitch color changes. ” As a purveyor and proponent of wild hair myself, I stand in solidarity. I salute this artist for stitching every strand to perfection.
So rad. See the whole process here.
