Some people get upset when museums and galleries bring street art inside. Well, imagine how they’ll feel when the tools of tagging show up on Top Chef and Cupcake Wars. After getting over my disappointment over those Parmesan Cheese Pencils being sold out, I explored the Deli Garage Food Cooperative shop some more and found these edible spray paint cans called Food Finish. Tree Hugger once wondered if illicit cannabis cultivation led growers to attempt vegetable gardens. Will Food Finish turn bombers into bakers?
Now you can totally gild a turkey! When our community advances far enough such that we have a Razzies version of the Designer Toy Awards, THIS should be the trophy.
Each can of Food Finish contains 100ml of “edible food varnish spray.” Apparently, this is the world’s first food coloring in a spray can. I can’t find info on who did the designs for the cans, though. I dig them. This blog post shows images of Food Finish being applied to pretzels and tomatoes, and damn if a little gold spraypaint doesn’t make this tomato more bling than beefsteak.
Unfortunately (thanks Al Qaeda), the Deli Garage won’t ship Food Finish to the U.S. because of our laws on aerosol cans. However, “a Sheikh placed a large order and wanted to know if it’s alright to spray FOOD FINISH on skin. For a gold banquet, no less.” Life is fair like that sometimes. Lots of other clever products in cool packaging here.
