Grass Hut and Gargamel at Comic-Con 2012
|Portland’s Grass Hut collective and the Gargamel Japan crew united (as usual, see last year) for Comic-Con with an array of colorful and eclectic sofubi. Their soft vinyl toys included new takes on traditional kaiju characters plus original monsters informed by life in the Pacific Northwest.
By covering their corner tables in what can only be described as “hippie blankets,” the gentlemen created a trippy motif that really stood out.
Le Merde and Bwana Spoons were among the many artists holding down the fort. Click through for a bunch of photos I took over the course of the convention. Look out for the surfing bird, Owl Kahanamoku, by Scrappers and Naoya!

I love how this looks like a stall at a swap meet. Grass Hut always brings it to the table a little off kilter in the best way possible.
I love their new Killer! (The one that debuted at Bwana’s show at TAG.)
