Mike McCormick Makes Custom Toys in Prison

On Monday, I wrote about an American army engineer making custom toys in Afghanistan. Here’s a look at an American prison inmate making custom toys in jail.  Do your eyes deceive you? It’s not made of resin. Mike McCormick made this creepy-cool toy for his son’s birthday.

My main material that made this all possible was what they call floor wax, which isn’t wax at all but rather an acrylic liquid used to make tile floors shine as in supermarkets. Luckily my prison job was to maintain the floors where I was housed at and I had plenty of access to that. The rest was acrylic paints and watercolors that had been left to me when another guy went home, toilet paper, thick paper which I got from manila folders that floated around and the roller balls from roll-on deodorants.
