Happy Skull Appreciation Day!
|Creativity expert (and designer of these Aspirin Storm Troopers) Noah Scalin, made a skull every day of 2007. In the ensuing years, he switched to sharing other people’s skulls while he worked on other skull-related projects. All told, he’s made about 500 skulls (and counting). I know what you’re thinking: World Goth Day was so last month. How about a hallowed holiday just for June? Today is Skull Appreciation Day.
Scalin just completed his 100 Painted Skulls project, in which he painted one hundred 4″ x 4″ wooden panels over the course of a year as a cerebral commemoration of his larger Skull-A-Day project. He writes:
Since the final piece will never be displayed as a group, I did a digital arrangement of all 100 in sequential order. And then, since I apparently can’t stop making skulls, I rearranged them into an additional lo-res skull.
That version is available now as a print here. How will YOU celebrate Skull Appreciation Day?
