Blamo Toys opened their fourth annual custom toy show this past weekend at Toy Art Gallery in LA. The invitational, billed as a “HUG-stravaganza,” had a roster of over 60 artists customizing Blamo’s Hug figure, and it featured the debut of Blamo’s new Teak Hug. Blamo’s TAG shows always look super fun.
Teak Hug by Blamo
Looking at the customs for this one, many artists seem to have gone in a dark and dismal direction with their Hugs. I suppose that’s a sad reflection on the state of society, but it’s also why I want to give Daniel Goffin props for his HugAmp.
Hug Amplifier by Daniel Goffin
Goffin writes: “I wanted to convey the idea of a hugging toy on a different level. While the original shows a creature offering a hug, my custom shows a somewhat similar creature actually hugging (something).” I think we need more hug amplification.
The Hug Custom Toy Group Show runs through December 30th. Check it out virtually, and pick up a custom Hug here. Here are a few Hugs I enjoyed.
