Maybe everybody can’t agree on whether the Occupy protesters are “doing it right”, but I think we all probably can agree that the cops at UC Davis [video, from four perspectives] did it wrong. When things like this happen, you can call for resignations and suspensions, and sometimes you get what you want. But a lot of times, you don’t, and that’s where memes can be helpful. You want to say your piece, you want to illustrate it so absurdly that your point is crystal clear, and you want to make a connection. The Casually Pepper Spray Everything Cop Meme already has 10 pages of user-generated pictures. Here are a few of my favorites. I especially like the My Little Pepper Spray image because it cuts right to the gist that unarmed, seated, peaceful undergraduates in an open outdoor space ought NOT to be pepper-sprayed in the face.
