The exhibition ended just a few days ago, but while I was in LA recently, I got to check out Glenn Barr‘s Faces at La Luz de Jesus Gallery. With this body of work, Barr attempts to capture the faces we see everyday, but therefore do not see. Hearkening back to his early days in the art world, Barr uses scavenged lumber as a canvas for these paintings. The organic backings to the iconic faces help create a sense of the familiar when viewing the work.
A 96-page book, also called Faces, is available now (and probably soon from Glenn Barr’s shop). Click through for a virtual tour of the work while it was still hanging in the gallery.
