Coarse Toys Gets Really Depressing

Coarse Toys: Casting Shadows Pain

This is maybe Coarse Toys‘ most goth release yet. It begins “When Silence Remains”…. and I’ll summarize the prose just a bit:

It’s dark and cold. The noop is frozen and has a headache. It’s windy and murky as he trudges barefoot through mud with his shadow, nism. This may be their final chance to use the kit to send paw! a signal to rescue them. Meanwhile, a fanged beast lurks in the periphery, watching…

Let’s go to a direct quote now:

Abandoned, and left at the mercy of the elements – like scraps to bribe the land. While he waits, sickness creeps into his mind, muddling his thoughts and gaining control of his senses. His inner voice, drowned out by the slow murmur of sorrows past. What has he done to deserve this torture?…Is he going to die alone?

How depressing is that?

Coarse Toys: Casting Shadows Pain

Well, Coarse invites you to “answer their muted cries” by purchasing the Casting Shadows Pain edition. It features the 7″ noop, heart-crossed, bleeding and padded with bandages, accompanied by the 4″ nism, a 14″ kite, and “a set of bloody c-o-a-r-s-e alphabet leaves, for you to scatter around them in loving memory.”

Also, in a Coarse vinyl first: the nism’s pod is finished in a light-shifting high-shine gloss. Naturally, as with all Coarse toys, the packaging is top notch.

The set is limited to 200 pieces and goes on sale tomorrow, December 20th exclusively at coarsehkg.com for HK$ 3480 which is about $447 USD. Set your clocks for 07:59 am Los Angeles, 10:59 am New York, 04:59 pm Hamburg and 11:59 pm Hong Kong. If you miss it (or can’t afford it), a similar, albeit more bloody version, will be available in stores worldwide for about $362 USD in the spring of 2012.
