Architectural office and furniture maker, Atelier 010, designed and produced a special wall case for a Rotterdam client at the beginning of 2012. The wall-to-wall unit was specially made for a high living room overlooking an inner harbor. The case offers a home for books, CDs, records and Dunnys in a ‘cheerfully chaotic manner’. The Dunnys are exhibited in small showcases spread over the wall.

By replacing the hinges of the showcases with magnets, the design remains abstract and the visibility at a maximum. In spite of the large scale of the case, its appearance is not coarse. Because of the compact rhythm, the dividing walls and shelves remain slender.

Keeping it disconnected from the ceiling, walls and floor also corroborates the lightness of the case. At night, the rhythm of the case remains visible by lighting the Dunnys from behind, creating a playful skyline of silhouettes.

Amazing shelf! Super jealous.
You’d think he could stock it with better art than dunnys if he could afford to have the shelf scratch built…
