Hariken, my Japanese brother with the impressive commitment to living green, recently released a series of gacha-gachas (capsule toys) through Kitan-club in Japan. BuraBura Banira, Kurimusoda version (Bobbing Vanilla: cream soda version) is a Vanilla-kun floating in a cup of cream soda with his feet dangling. Shake the toy, and the feet clink off the inside of the cup.
There are seven “flavorways” of Hariken’s cream soda. Each little gacha comes with a (removable) strap and a miniature comic inside a sealed plastic bag. Check out this video to meet Hariken. I’d also encourage you to surf around his website, YouTube and Ustream, so you can watch him don green Lycra, wigs, and a marker bandoleer and do his signature “performance painting”.
Mike the Fireman brought a supply of the gachas back from his recent trip to Japan, and we’ll be offering them at $5 a piece on Monday, October 29th in my (forthcoming) online shop.
