80s Music Toy Rings From Argentine Cereal Boxes

Depeche Mode toy rings

OK last post on these Argentine cereal premium toys (for today, at any rate). But these 80s music toy rings are just so good! Previously, we took a look at some inconceivable cinematic pinball toy pairings and  also these goth and gay 80s bands whose images and names were licensed (perhaps) to make miniature pinball premiums in Argentina. It’s difficult to understand why such wonderful games, toys and accessories didn’t find a hungry market of American cereal consumers.

Wham toy rings

Although, in fairness, when Bruce Jenner was a cereal mascot, he wasn’t also a Kardashian. My childhood cereal boxes favored the clean-cut, but times have changed: Michael Phelps is kind of a dick who got caught indulging in a moment of freedom, and George Michaels of Wham got caught having a moment of freedom with his dick! Now, they’re all linked by toy rings and cereal, a perfect irony for those familiar with John Harvey Kellogg’s intense ideas about masturbation and chastity.

Alien Sex Fiend toy rings

But where were we? Oh yes! The following new wave, goth and otherwise 80s music plastic toy rings were (supposedly) found in Argentine cereal boxes: ABC, Alien Sex Fiend, Bauhaus, The Bolshoi, Culture Club, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Devo, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Jane’s Addiction, Joy Division, Kraftwerk, New Order, OMD, Propaganda, Psychedelic Furs, The Smiths, Soft Cell, Spandau Ballet, Stone Roses, The The, Thompson Twins, Ultravox, Visage, Wire and Yazoo!  This eBay seller is offering them–and many more–for $5.99 each.
