Friday 05-04-12 Instagram Roundup
Tough week? Sit back and let the happy colors of this Instagram Roundup wash over you. Today’s installment takes us to Japan for American vintage toys and Japanese designer toys, out to Mexico where Mars-1 flew over for a signing and on to Bali to find Blamo Toys attempting to punk the TSA. Beyond toys, Ana Bagayan gives her art a new niche genre, Jeremy Fish gives a speech at his alma mater, a gigantic peanut butter cup is contemplated, and for the first time, I include more dogs than cats. Finally, I saw quite a bit of art in the Bay Area this week: Paul Chatem, Michael Page, Herakut, Nina Katchadorian and Clare Szydlowski for starters. Go forth and view it all. Enjoy your weekends!
Very cool resin crypto character with two points of articulation. Get yours here.
Cool to see, Hadle, the face behind the name behind The Slime Wave of 2010!
Lots more ahead!
Artist Ana Bagayan suggests a new niche: Futurealism. “It’s based on content and intention rather than style and technique, which are all equally valid because everyone is unique.” She calls it “Futurealism,” explained as “interpretation of a self-perceived futuristic reality”. Bagayan adds: “This defines me better than pop-surrealism.” Melt Comics has a studio visit and more.
