Twin Peaks Art Exhibition: Fire Walk With Me
Sometimes, you can’t only do a good thing once. Copro Gallery realized this after Clifton’s presented the In the Trees Twin Peaks 20th anniversary last year in LA. Now, Copro Gallery and curator Rob Wilson have organized a sequel of Twin Peaks art, based on the show’s prequel, Fire Walk With Me. I’m a huge Twin Peaks fan, and when Fire Walk With Me came out, I wasn’t yet 17. I distinctly recall the discomfort of sitting next to my friend’s mom in the theater.
Anyway, Copro contacted David Lynch about doing a follow-up show focusing on the darker side of Twin Peaks, explored in the movie Fire Walk with Me. Lynch liked the idea and together, they brought back Wilson, who curated the first Twin Peaks art exhibition. The Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me group art exhibition includes all of the artists from the previous show, while expanding the venue from a restaurant to a gallery setting. The gallery is located in part of what used to be a train station, which is a fitting location seeing as an abandoned train car set the scene for Laura Palmer’s murder and Ronette Pulaski’s nightmare.
In happier news, there will be an artist reception featuring unreleased music from Twin Peaks and special guests including Grace Zabriskie (Sarah Palmer), Richard Beymer (Benjamin Horne), James Marshall (James) and David Lynch himself. Also on display will be Bruce Bickford’s scale model sculptures of the town of Twin Peaks.
The show opens Saturday, April 21st with a reception from 8PM to 11:30PM at Copro Gallery – Bergamot Station at 2525 Michigan Ave, Unit T5, Santa Monica, CA 90404. It runs through May 12th.
