This is so cool! I have big love for Benny the Dreamer and his conjurer/creator, my only ever (so far) Artist in Residence, Okedoki. It turns out that Benny’s producer, Vince of VTSS and admirer Gino of TAG, got together to make a 4-foot tall Benny the Dreamer for Toy Art Gallery’s grand opening last Friday.
You can get a sense of the scale here in this pic where Benny is posing with artist KaNO‘s fly-looking-with-those-purple-sneakers daughter. I want one! Um, I’m talking about the sculpture. No kids for me just now.
Actually, while I’m here, props to Gino Joukar and TAG for putting on a real toy art gallery show. What a difference a few months and a new space make! TAG’s new digs on Melrose had red velvet rope entry, neon logo, good displays, proper signage and a brain-shaped cake (in honor of Emilio Garcia‘s debut show). I look forward to visiting.
