Customized Footballs for the Super Bowl

When you think of Maxim magazine and the Super Bowl, do you think of customized footballs? AOL does:

A selection of AOL Artists have custom designed one-of-a-kind footballs to be showcased at the Maxim Super Bowl Party on February 5, 2011, the night before the Super Bowl. Maxim and AOL will be celebrating the biggest weekend in professional football with a party at the Centennial Hall at Fair Park, home of the world-renowned State Fair of Texas, the largest state fair in the U.S.

AOL Artists Abbi Jacobson, Mr. Kiji, Dave Kinsey, Jon Burgerman, and Darren Booth all hand-crafted custom footballs out of a variet of media, including spray paint, acrylic, and even paper mache. The footballs will be a main attraction of the Maxim Super Bowl Party, and will be displayed in glass podiums throughout the event. In addition, these footballs will be donated to the American Heart Association, a charity of choice of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, in honor of February as American Heart Month.

Hmmm…with Maxim magazine, Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders and surely copious amounts of alcohol, I don’t know if these footballs will really be a “main attraction,” but it’s certainly a cool cross-pollination of art with the unlikely partner of American football.
