Photos of Hoarders by Lee Materazzi

I enjoy writing about the fine line between collectors and hoarders. In part, the distinction is based on whether you collect to consume or whether your collection consumes you. If you’re in the former camp, you have a nice way to display your stuff; in the latter camp, you get displaced by your stuff. What happens when you’ve filled up all your shelves, drawers, storage cabinets and stash chairs?

Enter photographer Lee Materazzi. In her newest series:

She explores the thin line between finding oneself and losing oneself. She references artists like Charles Ray and Anna Mendieta as she “attempts to achieve a resolution of the body’s role within contemporary art.”
