New Toy Art Photography from Ryan Roberts
Toy art photo-provocateur, Ryan Roberts, is releasing a grip of new work this week! Starting today, the toy-filled photos are available and on sale through Fab.com. My favorite piece is probably “MOMA, Dada, Gaga…?” (above), which has all the trappings of a masterpiece: 1) Titular wordplay. Is the title a reference to art or baby talk or both? 2) Art toys and pop colors! 3) A toy art meta moment: Yes, that is Nathan Jurevicius’ Dr. Maybee checking out Burt & Ernie by Troy Gua (of Le Petit Prince fame).
Do you ever look at an artwork and think about how much fun the artist had in creating it? It’s pretty palpable here. Pirates of all stripes, tentacles, cubicles and miniature everything. Qees, Be@rbricks and Dunnys looting and pillaging in perfect harmony. “Pirating the Pirates” should also resonate with all my Physibles friends over at The Pirate Bay…
Regarding “Tina?” (above), Ryan asks: “Do you get that Cykill, the Gobot, is asking the Vespa if she’s Tina?” If you do get it, you also get 100 nerd points. Click through for hot dog hi-jinx, Ciboys baking in the sun and a (wishful) wardrobe malfunction. Add this essential 2D toy art to you collection for the next three days at Fab.com.
