Fredrik Raddum is a Norwegian sculptor and installation artist based in Oslo. I’ve been hoarding pictures of his work on my hard drive waiting for a current event by which to share some of them. Now is the time!*

*Especially if you’re in Norway.

Now through September 16th, Raddum is showing a new body of work, Malaise, at Galleri Bradstrup in Oslo.

Fredrick Raddum is diving into the dark side of the human nature, searching for “The Human Condition”. The title “Malaise” has its origin from French and can be described as a feeling of discomfort, uneasiness, and a feeling that something is not right. With Raddum’s pieces one gets the general feeling that something bad might happen, or is commencing.

Indeed, the incongruity between the medium (large-scale whimsical, polyurethane plastic “toys”) and messages (lots of hangings and beheadings) affords you an uncomfortable feeling of doubting what your eyes have just seen.

There’s not a lot of information about Raddum available online, but you can follow his work on this tumblr page. A Danish art book cataloging his 2011 show Get Lost is also available for ~ $100 USD here.
