If there is such a thing as heaven on earth, surely it is here. Toykio has opened up a glorious headquarters in Dusseldorf, Germany. The space is made up of an art gallery, a coffee shop and a toy store.
You will find the Creme de la Creme of the Urban Art Scene, Lowbrow Art, Pop-Surealism und Photography.
Its windows beckon with giant Koziks and KAWS. Its cafe welcomes you with Heidi Kenney’s plush donuts and Ferg’s big Sqube. There is a large Squire by Jermaine Rogers near a framed Josh Keyes piece near multiples by Gary Baseman and David Choe. They also serve croissants.
I confess: I didn’t used to think that Heaven existed, and until now, you would have had a really hard time convincing me that it existed in Germany. I mean, seriously, when Belinda Carlisle sang, “Ooh Heaven is a place on earth,” I thought she was probably just doing drugs. Well, turns out she was right all these years. And so I begin saving up for a plane ticket…
