Several people have asked about Benny’s production and packaging. Vince went all out with creating Benny. He wanted to make every aspect of this production special, and this meant also the packaging. Packaging is secondary to the figure of course, but attractive, creative and quality packaging was important to us. A cardboard box also wouldn’t be congruent with our mantra: be different. Almost every figure being produced presently comes in a cardboard box, which often gets stored or thrown away. We wanted the collector to reuse our box for his/her personal keepsakes and treasures (all the sponge is removable). We also wanted it to be created from a material that was ecologically sustainable, so bamboo was the best choice.
Laser etching was Vince’s idea from the beginning. This method was new to me, but he sold me on this concept very quickly as I saw how aesthetically and tactilely beautiful it was. I then set to work on the front cover to best represent Benny, while still maintaining a sense of mystery and wonder until you open the box.
Every detail of the box: bamboo wood, sponge, hinge, clasp and metal tag was hand picked by Vince. Our aim was to make the collectors happy. Both vince and I are collectors as well. Vince has been collecting for over 10 years, and myself for over 5 years. We value when something is created with care and attention. We hope collectors will see our passion and appreciate all the little details.
