Yosiell Lorenzo has been hunkered down in his Oakland studio attracting stray cats and painting his head off. If you haven’t seen his work since Relentless in Chicago last May, prepare to witness a transformation.
Bam. Over the last couple months, Yosiell has been working in a less character-driven and more intensely realistic style. His new paintings are female faces bruised by life’s misfortunes, but sprouting strong horns to signify their prevailing strength.
These paintings make up the continued collection (now called Remaining Relentless) and will be shown beginning tonight, as part of a 3-artist show at Converge Gallery in Williamsport, PA. Yosiell will be in attendance, so go say hi if you’re in the area! Click through for a few more previews…
